About Robert E Siegel
Robert E. Siegel has spent his career moving among the classroom, the boardroom and the cap table. At the Stanford Graduate School of Business, he has taught 10 academic courses, from Systems Leadership to The Industrialist's Dilemma, and authored case studies examining companies including Google, Charles Schwab, Stripe, Target and Instacart.
That research feeds two books. The Brains and Brawn Company argues that lasting advantage comes from blending digital capability with physical excellence rather than choosing between disruptor and incumbent identities. Charles Schwab CEO and president Walt Bettinger called it "a masterful work." The Systems Leader names the five cross-pressures that define modern leadership and offers a discipline for managing them rather than wishing them away. Accenture chair and CEO Julie Sweet described it as "a wise, perceptive and always practical guide to increasing resilience and agility, driving innovation and creating value."

Ambiguity to Action: Tensions and Trade-Offs of Leadership and Communication
Transformation in these times has moved from buzz word to a strategic necessity. But it is easier said than done. Legacy companies must change technology and culture; startups often lack scale and logistics. In 'The Brains and Brawn Company' Robert Siegel offers ideas for both. Unlike other books on the subject, Siegel offers a compelling framework for change and vivid examples of practitioners. Siegel brings an engaging style, bringing his academic talent to the real world. Brains and Brawn is a must read for all who are engaging in the most important change of their lifetime.

Simply put - a masterful work by Robert Siegel. His writing reflects the real world of trade-offs, technology, and truths. Digitalization matters, innovation matters, creativity matters. But ultimately what matters most to every business is its focus on customers and clients. An intense focus on clients paired with a commitment to put the interests of clients at the forefront of every decision is the ultimate winning approach in business. I found myself reading chapters multiple times as I marveled at the way Siegel’s experience, expertise, and insights come to life in the text. 'The Brains and Brawn Company' is an ideal presentation of balance that every business leader can benefit from.
