About Paul Nielsen
What does it take to build technologies an organization can trust for decades? Paul D. Nielsen has spent his career answering that question, first in uniform and now at the head of one of the world's leading software research organizations.
Under his leadership, Carnegie Mellon University's Software Engineering Institute (SEI) has become a key research innovator in areas central to federal government operations in the cyberspace domain: the integration of software-defined systems, software architecture, software sustainment and evolution, resiliency across networks, systems and organizations, and the full spectrum of cybersecurity. He has pushed for tighter coupling between software engineering and systems engineering, especially for systems with increasing complexity, connectivity and autonomous functionality.
